We stayed at Gran Sol for a week, wished we had booked more. From arriving to departing the staff looked after you completely.I have
never stayed at any hotel better than this. We needed relaxation and we got it. The food in the hotel was first class, so after eating around the harbour for our first two nights we tried the hotel meals and went every night until we left. So much choice and cooked to order.
Lots of lovely sweets to try at the end of your meal as well. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a slow pace of holiday and much relax time. If you want entertainment which we did not, you can nip next door to the other hotels in Mallorca, spain which supplied this. Hope to return again in Gran Sol very very soon. Hotel and rooms spotless and so close to the beach what more could you want ...

We booked at Gran Sol for the peak of summer, arrived in Cala Bona on August 8th, it was lovely from the moment we stepped in the hotel, bar staff were friendly, lobby was brand new and modern! It was soo tidy and clean, reception staff spoke fluent english and were more than happy to help with any questions and queries we may have had!! The bedroom.....Well what can I say.....Beds were lush, so comfortable it was hard to pull myself off of them! The bathroom was tidy, clean, bright and even the littlest touches were soo nice, a fresh Red Rose in a vase by the mirror just added the finishing touches!!! I would definatly recommend a sea view balcony, the views were just amazing, watching the sun come up in the morning! The restraunt - Possibly one of the best restraunts I've ever eaten in abroad, fresh fruit, fresh meat, everything for everyone! We ate in Gran Sol hotel some nights it was sooo nice! Although I would reccomend eating out some nights to experience the peaceful but busy nightlife! By the marina there are some lovely places to eat again with lovely views!
The weather in Mallorca was beautiful and the pool area was clean again!!! I would reccomend getting down to the pool earlier as sunbeds are reserved early morning!! However the beach is nice and you can rent sunbeds on there for a pitance! Definatly go along to Cala M'illor as the beaches down there are gorgeous and the sea is slightlty cleaner down there!!!! At least go give it a look!!!! If you get a chance get booked on the pirates trip, I went with my girlfriend and its not just for the kids! Its brilliant!!!! The waterpark is good but queues are long and slides aren't the most exciting!!! I would definatly reccomend this hotel and will try and return for another relaxing holiday at some point!! Resort was lovely and people were friendly!!! What more could you want from a chilled holiday with the other half! :).

The Gran Sol is a lovely hotel right on the beach at Cala Bona. The rooms are clean and fresh and the view from the balcony is great .
The pool area is more geared for adults than children although only a few steps takes you from the pool to the beach. There was no problem getting loungers, even in August. Breakfast was very well presented and contained all you could reasonably ask for. In particular excellent fruit platters and a chef cooking the eggs as requested. Staff were very friendly and efficient and the setting had a lovely view out to sea.
As mentioned in other reviews the night life and restaurants in Cala Bona are no great shakes, especially if you wanted something beyond Pizza or Pasta and we were glad we had hired a car to seek out other parts of Majorca. (Please note that parking for Gran Sol Hotel is only on the surrounding streets but we did always manage to find spaces without much hassle.) If however you are looking for a hotel to simply chill out in the sun the Mallorca Gran Sols hotel should suit your needs ideally

My wife and I booked this hotel after reading the many rave reviews on this site, and we were not disapointed.
This hotel is worthy of all the praise that has come it's way, the location of this hotel is perfect being on the beach and also within walking distance of Cala Millor. Hotel Gran Sol is on the small side which is to the advantage of the guests as they can be assured of personal attention by all the staff, Sylvia one of the directors daily monitored and maintained the high standards of the hotel and checked with guests each day that everything was to their satisfaction. Miguel the head waiter was friendly and nothing was too much trouble, the food was fantastic some of which was cooked in front of you. We dined in the hotel every night of our two weeks stay as there was such a variety something for everyone. Gran Sol hotel rooms had everything you needed and were spotlessly clean the beds were very comfortable and had duvets which was a nice change from the usual blankets. All in all this hotel is well worthy of it's four stars and yes it's new but if they ensure the decor and furnishings are maintained and the food as good as it has been then this hotel will always be at full capacity my wife and I plan to return to this wonderful hotel and won't hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting a top notch hotel in a great location

Having searched on this website, i chose the Gran Sol in Majorca. This hotel is fantastic. Is sits right on the beach front and you definitely have to book a sea view, as we did, to enjoy the whole experience, this aspect was definitely one of the best bit's of the holiday and breathtaking. Our room was brilliant, it's clear that the hotel has only been renovated of late, with a lovely bathroom and very clean room and facilities. The ‘in room’ tv reception wasn't great but watchable. The pool was good and never overcrowded, infact, myself and my partner were occasionally the only one's in there splashing around a lot of the time, with most people choosing to sun bath on the loungers. The beach is good and although rather stony there are certain parts near the large walkway out to the sea that have only sand at the bottom - you can see that the water is a lot more blue in these areas and it was fun to lie on a lilo in these parts. Cala Millor is very close by and has a vast sandy beach, although there are quite a few waves in the sea, as it isn't as sheltered as at Cala Bona. The hotel was definitely reminiscent of a 4* hotel, the service was excellent and the waiters and service staff ensure the hotel is kept immaculate, the food was above average and good, although it was a bit repetitive as we found ourselves having to eat dinner in the hotel most nights as the surrounding restaurants are just not up to scratch. The area itself was highly disappointing, extremely resorty and although you don't have people on the streets trying to drag you into bars, it was a huge letdown. The bars 'outside' the hotel didn't look very hygienic even along the whole stretch to Calla Millor and i really didn't fancy/(or would go) drinking in any of them. There are a few German bars and a couple of British - mostly in Cala Millor but you know the type - the sing song mentality and very shabby. There is a tapas restaurant beside the harbor - which is the only place i would recommend you to eat 'outside' the hotel! And this was pretty expensive, compared to the 12 euro meals served up inside Gran Sol hotel.
We tried the Sunday dinner in a pub called the anchor... seriously don't, bad school dinner food at it's worst!!! As well as a complete waste of money, we couldn't even force it down! All in all, the Gran Sol is probably one of the best hotels i have ever stayed in but i can assure you i will not be back to cala bona/millor. If you are looking for a retreat where you do not anticipate leaving a good hotel and benefiting from the beach on your doorstep... this place is definitely for you. However, if you are looking to go somewhere where you will have a pleasant wander outside the premises please be assured that you will be highly disappointed. I would rather other people didn't go and feel the same disappointment. The area has a huge lack of activity, style, welcome.... Unfortunately, a fabulous little hotel, with very efficient, welcoming and well mannered staff is sitting in a bargain basement of a holiday resort. It’s difficult to find the right hotel and I actually choose this one via recommendations I had seen on this page, (and hence the location of Majorca) however, in hindsight the location is as equally important and this one is massively under par (the worst, since teenage days in the canaries), wouldn’t recommend any of my friends or family to go there
