Fantastic place to stay - wish I was there || on Sept 25, 2008 by Cruisee || Overal Rating 10/10
My Husband and I, along with our nine month old son stayed recently at the Prinsotel for 10 days. We enjoyed the experience immensely. The Hotel La Dorada is immaculate, the apartments are spacious, bright and the pool view was great. The beds were so comfy it was a struggle to get up every morning! We did not eat in the hotel, other than at the pool bar, where the food was good, and reasonably priced. The Outdoor pool was cold, but the indoor pool was a good temparture. The standard of clientele is high, with all nationalities, some people with children and some without. The location of the hotel is perfect for people who love the beach, but the Playa de Muro strip is tacky, but is a good base for exploring Mallorca. Unfortunately during our stay my husband had his credit card details cloned and used illegaly. Prinsotel La Dorada staff were exceptional they contacted the police, helped to translate his statement and provided sound advice at a stressful time. When we had to go home we were sad to leave the complex as we found it very idyllic, and would easily recommend it to people who want time out from their busy lives. |
An excellent two weeks holiday in Mallorca || on July 29, 2008 by L Dolphin || Overal Rating 9/10
An excellent two week holiday at the La Dorada hotel. Rooms plenty big enough and very clean, towels changed everyday, sheets three times a week. Pool area is fantastic and there is plenty of space to find complete sun or shade. There are enough sunbeds for everyone. The first week they were left out and the early morning people had towels out by 7:30. This was more about location that getting a bed. 2nd week they were locked up until 9am and there was hardly any rush. Restaurant is very clean and has a wide range of food and the bar/entertainment area is inside and very clean, again plenty of room. As the guests were from many countires, English, German, Dutch, Spanish, French, quite often it wasn't over crowded as everyone had different entertainment tasts. Prinsotel La Dorada is well worth a visit and we will be returning ...

Safe bet for a great hotel & beach holiday || on June 4, 2008 by Chris Miller || Overal Rating 10/10
As always we were not sure what to expect with the Prinsotel La Dorada. I can honestly say we were pleasantly surprised from the moment we arrived. We stayed on a board only basis and the standard of accomodation was excellent and recently furnished. Spacious, comfortable and perfectly well equipped for the whole family - of particulat help on rainy days was the large flat screen TV with endless supply of kids movies! We can not really think of anything that we would complain about at this hotel, the pools were great and the grounds constantly being cleaned and maintained. Rooms were cleaned every day and left spotless. The staff of the hotel were all very helpful and friendly. All in all a great place to stay with the family and highly recommend. Great service from Alpharooms also with no problems at all. My only issue during our holiday in Mallorca island was the mosquitos which were ravenous so you need to prepare for this however no reflection on Prinsotel La Dorada hotel ... |
Not for couples || on August 8, 2008 by Natalia213 || Overal Rating 8/10
Me and my fiancée stayed at Prinsotel La Dorada hotel one week during august 2008, with half board. The hotel is very nice, perfectly near a wonderful beach with beautiful cristal clear water. Although I wouldn't recommend the hotel to couples without children, since the hotel is totally devoted to making a vacation perfect for families with small children. Most of the pool area is suited for children and so are the hotel acitivities.
The food is OK, but we probably wouldn't get half board again. The restaurant of the complex is big and there are many things to chose from, and also if you like fried food and sausages and hamburgers for breakfast, and a lot of pork. With every meal, there are many fruits and deserts. If something negative should be mentioned I would say the cleaning of La Dorada hotel hasn't been the best. Altogether we stayed six and a half days, and three out of these days the staff either forgot to put new towels or to leave blancet covers. Each time we had to call to the recepetion and sometimes it took them so long to get the missing stuff so we had to go down and get the towels ourselves.
Also it says that the tennis is free for hotel guests but it's NOT. The tennis COURT is free, but it costs you 7 euros to rent rackets and balls, so bring your own rackets if you want to play tennis! It's not a big deal, but we always stay at at least 4 star hotels and never had to pay for suh activities before. Overall the Prinsotel La Dorada it was a nice hotel, perfect for families & close to a wonderful sandy beach with turqoise water |
Can't wait to go back || on July 2, 2007 by Mrs G Ritchie || Overal Rating 10/10
We (family of 4) have just arrived back from our 2 weeks in the sun at the beautifully kept La Dorada apartments. They are in a quiet part of the Playa de Muro area of Alcudia and have everything you need for a lovely family holiday, if you like things quiet. If you are after non-stop clubbing/parties this is not the place for you! Prinsotel La Dora is very clean and spacious with 2 showers, 1 over the bath and a huge walk in 1 too! Reception is well staffed and available 24hours, they couldn't do enough for us. All the staff were very helpful. This is the second time we have been to this hotel and would definitely go back. The kids club is excellent, plenty of activities for all ages. The food at this hotel is delicious and fresh, a huge buffet with large selection of salads, pasta, meat, fish, fruit, and amazing puddings changes every night so you do not get bored, but if you do there are some lovely restaurants nearby. The Dakota Tex-Mex is good for something different or for more traditional food try the Ole Pizzeria further along the road. For a good, well priced lunch try the George and Dragon too. The beach is just across the road and has loads of sunbeds for 8.50euros a day, it is very shallow, great for kids. There is plenty of places to hire bikes or go-carts if that takes your fancy! We hired a car and drove to Puerto Pollensa which is beautiful and over the mountains to Puerto Soller which is well worth a visit. I would recommend Prinsotel La Dorada to anyone wanting upper class accommodation in a quieter part of town ...

we had a great stay at prinsotel La Dorada || on Sept 26, 2007 by Ron Brinsdon || Overal Rating 10/10
We would not have given 5/5 had we bought our 2 weeks as a "package" with a brochure firm. However the savings we made by booking direct made this very worthwhile. Because it is near the end of the season, there were often queues for drinks with only 1 person serving but overall very acceptable and pleasant levels of service. If, like us, you considered Prinsotel La Dorada hotel because you enjoy birdwatching, this must have the best location in Majorca for the nature reserve - it is not the closest to the entrance but the back rooms allow views out over the reedbeds and lagoons - on our first morning we looked out to see 5 flamingos and an osprey. If you want an excellent value independent deal, book with go2mallorca.org or similar and have a great time. Do not expect Palma de Mallorca 6* standards or top flight luxury but be realistic and it will not dissapoint. Germans etc did outnumber Brits by about 4 to 1 and the meals did tend to reflect this but with a largish buffet there will usually be something to tempt. Generally no queues except at breakfast but again this may be due to reduced staffing levels at end of season. We would not go in the height of the school hols though as we feel that it would be just too hectic with testosterone charged gangs of 13 to 15 year olds running around but it is a family style hotel and that is par for the course. Can't wait to go back - maybe in April for the spring birdwatching ....
