Situated some 3 Km. inland, from its port, 'Port de Soller', the town lies in a large, fertile, bowl-shaped valley. Soller shares its valley with the village of Fornalutx and the hamlet of Biniaraix, the combined population is around 13,000, and the valley is famous for its orange groves and terraces of ancient olive trees. This part of Mallorca will appeal to those looking for a quiet and peaceful relaxing holiday. The Port of Soller offers holidaymakers the chance to soak up the sun on the sands and if you want to avoid the crowds then you can take a boat to little coves that you cannot reach by land.

Soller

The main town Soller, of Moorish origin, is famous for the orange and olive groves that abound in the area. From the train station, take the famous old wood train which still rattles its way to Palma and back several times a day. Also from the station, the historic electric tram runs through the square to the Port of Soller, a beautiful, almost circular, well protected bay. From here you can take a boat along the wild, rugged northern coast to sheltered little bays inaccessible by road. Around the bay are a good number of small restaurants and shops. Nearby are the attractive mountain villages of Fornalutx and Biniaraitx, whilst a little further along the coast is Deia, an area of musicians, painters, poets and artists who have for many years found inspiration here.

Soller and the port are about half an hour's drive from Palma Airport, and have good connections with railway, tram and bus services. The valley and its surrounding mountain range, the 'Serra de Tramuntana', is a favourite destination for people from all over the world, especially those who enjoy walking, nature, ecotourism, swimming or simply a peaceful rest away from the hustle and bustle of the better-known tourist traps. Port Soller is a beautiful, circular, protected bay with safe beaches You can take a boat along the rugged northern coast to sheltered little bays inaccessible by road.

Within a twenty minute drive of Soller is the lovely village of Deia which offers a deep water beach for wonderful swimming. The house of the writer and poet Robert Graves will opened this Spring as a Museum. This village is well known for it's fabulous, elegant restaurants.Fornaltx another ancient and beautiful mountain village is within a ten minute drive of Soller. Two doors along from the apartment is a new Maritime Museum and several galleries sellingoriginal work frank the waterfront. There is a folk dancing festival in Soller in July and other festivals through out the summr information about which can be obtained from the local tourist offices

In the winter, Puerto Soller offers an excellent base for walking and for exploring the island. In the summer, the port has long sandy beaches with clean and safe water for swimming, snorkelling and water sports (hire facilities available). If you don’t fancy getting wet there are also boats of all sizes to rent, from pedalos to yachts and motor-boats. Puerto Soller is very much a working harbour - fishing boats go out regularly and fresh fish can be bought at whole sale prices, whilst boat trips also run regularly to Sa Colobra and Cala Torrent .
